Junior Program
Ages 10 - 15
I am sure by now you understand why the study of martial arts has become so popular among parents and students. Our students are treated with respect and are taught to return the same respect to others. Praise, encouragement and positive reinforcement are common place in the dojo. Classes are enjoyable, entertaining and planned to ensure that we keep the attention of the students and have everyone wanting to come back for more. Students in the Junior class are looking to have fun and get in shape. We meet that expectation and then some. Students gain flexibility, balance, quick reflexes, coordination, muscle tone and cardiovascular fitness.
In the Junior program students are with their peers, but we also have their classes broken down into belt ranks. Beginner (white, yellow, and orange), Intermediate (Green, blue and purple) and Advanced (brown and black). This is just another benefit for our students. The Junior program is typically a four-year program, depending on the student. Once the Junior Black Belt is earned then the student will move up to the next level, the Adult class and work towards their Adult Black Belt. The curriculum consists of self-defense techniques from hair, wrist or shirt grabs, pushes, punches etc. Of course there are the kicks and punches, but most importantly we focus on more than just the typical training areas. We teach verbal self-defense, the dangers of gangs, drug and alcohol abuse, who are you and what are your values, what are your long term goals, etc. We provide sleepovers, skating parties, picnics and other activities so that our students can meet new friends and interact in a safe and positive environment.
As stated before martial arts are great for developing mental and physical fitness, but the foundation of martial arts is Self-defense. However, we teach children that martial arts are NOT to be used in any manner other than true self-defense. The result is a self-confident student, who doesn't need to bully or show off to other peers.
- The Junior program consists of forty five-minute classes, twice a week.
- The goal of the Junior program is to earn the Black Belt. Resulting in moving to the next level; the Adult class.
Don't just take our word for it; listen to what other students have to say about our unique Junior Program!
My teenage son wanted to join martial arts. I enrolled him in "another school." During the four months he was there I was never informed about anything. What to expect or what was happening. I felt uncomfortable about the whole thing, let alone, the condition of the school itself. Thus being the first place I took my son, I had nothing to compare it to. I wanted my son to learn respect, self-control, discipline and have self-confidence. I felt he could learn this without being insulted, humiliated, embarrassed or being treated down right cruel. I made the decision to pull him out and try somewhere else. I was right to do so and I realize this Academy is exactly what I was looking for. It amazes me the difference in schools. I am so
proud that my son is a part of the wonderful place. This Academy is what it is all about!

Children of today are faced with many frightening uncertainties. Peer pressure, drugs, violence and mass media are a part of the world in which they live. We, as parents, must prepare our children to meet these challenges.
The U.S. Martial Arts Academy offers a safe, fun, high-energy environment where kids are encouraged to be their best. Professional, highly competent instructors promote a positive attitude while developing students' physical skills and mental discipline.
In school and at home, my son struggled with poor self-control and concentration. He was frustrated and so was I. Since enrolling in the Academy's Junior Program in 2001, he has developed a determination to focus and stay on task. He is happier, more organized and more self-reliant. Through hard work, self- discipline and reinforcement from his peers and instructors, my son is steadily advancing toward his goal as a Black Belt.
I am extremely impressed with the high standards set by the U.S. Martial Arts Academy. The Academy traits-Loyalty, Integrity, Honor, Respect, Courtesy, Self-Control, and Perseverance are traits by which to live and traits to pass on to the next generation.
